Spotty showers late Saturday

Spotty showers late Saturday, across the front range.

DENVER — THE FORECAST BY: Meteorologist Laurann Robinson

FORECAST HEADLINES:

Spotty showers late Saturday, across the front range. A brief storm or two could pop-up, but none are expected to become severe. Breezy, with increasing clouds overnight, and mild lows in the middle 40s.

Sunday, we'll start the day with sunshine, ahead of a very warm, very windy afternoon. Highs will climb into the upper 70s/lower 80s, across the eastern half of Colorado. Additionally, watch for afternoon and evening winds to gust above 40 mph. Hold onto your hats!

To the west, we'll watch for late-day, scattered rain and snow showers across the western slope and high country, Sunday afternoon. Winds will be gusty, as well, so Wind Advisories and High Wind Warnings will be in-place for the western slope throughout the day. Expect winds in these areas to gust between 60-75 mph.

To the south, strong winds will be paired with very dry air, so fire danger will increase. Red Flag Warnings will be in effect for the San Luis Valley, Sunday. For Monday, a Fire Weather Watch will takeover southern portions of the front range and eastern plains.

As we move through the week, strong winds will continue to be the big story. Highs drop a bit, into the lower to middle 60s, Monday through Wednesday, under in-and-out cloud cover and slight chances for spotty showers. The high country will see a few chances for some light snowfall, as well.

More widespread shower and storm chances don't return until the end of next week. Scattered showers and storms push in late-day Thursday, then stick around through the weekend. Highs will drop into the upper 50s/lower 60s, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
