This week’s runs

So we had 3 days we had to run this week.  I felt good most of the time.  On Tuesday we ran 2 miles, doing a 1:45 run and a 3 min walk.  That was no problem for me, I felt good.  While we were running, my running partner and friend, Kim, twisted her ankle.  She was hurtin’, so to try to distract her, I was able to talk to her while we were running.  I was impressed that I was able to run and talk at the same time.  On Wednesday we had to do 3 miles.  We upped our running segment to 2 mins, and still only walked 3 minutes.  I was feeling okay while we were running and walking, I felt a little hot, but not too bad.  When I finished the run, I felt like my head was going to pop off I was so hot.  So, I sat in the car in the A/C and drank my gatorade until I felt good enough to drive.  On the way home, I started feeling really hungry, I mean really hungry, so I stopped and got a chicken wrap and a Hi-C drink.  I made it home, at that point I had crazy cold chills and I felt sick to my stomach.  I don’t know what was up, but I felt better when I woke up Thursday morning.  We ran on Thursday, but only 2 miles, and we did it inside on the treadmill!  I scared myself the day before with the heat issues and stuff… so I wanted to stay insdie in the A/C… the heat here in Hot-lanta sucks!  We did up our running segment yet again, to a 2:30 run to a 3:00 walk, and it felt good.  I was good when I finished, no heat issues or anything.  I’m excited about the group run tomorrow.  We have to do 3 miles tomorrow, so that should be fun.  I think for the 3 miles tomorrow I will do the same split as Thursday.  The goal it to narrow the walk segment and increase the run segment until we get to the Marathon in January.   When I did my half-marathon, I did a 8/2 split, 8 mins of running and 2 mins of walking.  I hope to be able to do that for the marathon too, but only time will tell!

GTS was good!

Derek and I went to the GTS and had a great time.  The team in training group here is HUGE.  When i went to group runs in Colorado, there may have been 20 people tops… normally there were like 10 of us.  Here, today, a holiday weekend, there were at least 50 people.  They said there were sometimes, some seasons, where they have 100 show up to a group training session!  how crazy is that?  Any way, Derek and I both did great.  We had people behind us and in front of us.  So, you know what that means… I’M NOT THE SLOWEST ONE!!  YEE HAW!  :)  So, three miles done!  go me!  Now we have to get ready for a party here in the neighborhood.

Off to the group run

Derek and I are about to head out to the “GTS” Group Training Session.  Today it is only 3 miles and Derek is so excited to go.  It is so much fun that he wants to go do all the running with me.  So, I gotta go get ready.  This is my first Group Training Session this year.  I am excited to meet the other TNT participants!

I also wanted to thank my sister kari for the donation.  I was so excited to see that this morning, it motivated me to get up and go run.  Here i go!

Welcome

I’m at it again… As some of you may remember, I ran the Boulder Backroads ½ Marathon in September of 2004 (about 4 years ago) in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  This time I will be running farther and raising more money!  On January 11, 2009, I will be running the Disney Full  Marathon in Orlando, FL! That’s 26.2 miles, and yes all at once. Luckily, I am not doing this on my own. I have joined the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program.

One of the greatest contributions of the Society is toward research. Great progress has been made in the treatment of this disease, and continued funding for this research is essential. I have set a personal goal to raise $3400 toward this effort.

I will make updates on my training progress and my fund raising progress.  I’ll be advertising my fund raising on here as well.  I would appreciate any support and encouragement I can get.
